The session by Mr. Bhushan Talekar gave a comprehensive understanding of how to go about your LinkedIn profile to build your career.Sir began by stating the agendas of the event,  about how students can make the best use of LinkedIn and what kind of role it will play for students and in their careers. He started off the event with a quick fun pole to get to know the audience and their general knowledge about what LinkedIn is.He further explained the objectives of the event i.e. setting up a great LinkedIn profile that will stand out which was very important as most of the crowd was of First Years who didn’t have much idea about it.

Furthermore, he explained why every student should have a LinkedIn profile, the reason being ‘70% companies use social media to screen candidates and 92% recruiters use LinkedIn to search for job candidates’.He also explained the difference between resume and LinkedIn profile and how LinkedIn has an edge over one’s resume, which is the most common doubt of every student.The key points while making a LinkedIn profile-starting with the profile picture which should be a professional one. A background image. Next is the Headline which is very important to tell what we do, or for a student, we can use this to show what we are passionate about.

A heading should be a one-liner. The summary should consist of interests, skill set, and area of expertise. It should consist of keywords that will help make you more visible. The feature section is to show your work, vlog or projects. The skills section should be with things you are good at and should be filled by making ‘you uniquely you. Recommendations can be very important to boost your LinkedIn profile. Following these key points will help one make a great LinkedIn profile.Then the speaker explained how one should have a connection with alumina and how one can search for alumina on LinkedIn. The event further went with a Q & A with the speaker. Sir took all the doubts regarding LinkedIn. It was quite an interactive session.
