Dr. Rane first gave an overview of the previous industrial revolutions and explained the driving force behind Industry 4.0. Then he spoke of the various technologies that are expected to drive the coming industrial revolution. The key features of this will be Connectivity and Communication, Data Intelligence and Analytics, Human Machine Interaction and Advanced Production. He gave an overview of key technologies like IoT, Simulation, Cybersecurity, System Integration, Cloud Computing, 3D printing, Big Data, Augmented Reality and Autonomous Robots.Then he explained the impact these technologies will have on the future.He also spoke of the various challenges that these technologies will pose,some of them being lack of digital culture and skills, high economic costs, lack of regulations and data security.Then he took up a few case studies to explain the actual usage of these technologies in real world businesses.Finally he took up a few questions followed by a vote of thanks. All in all,it was a very informative session and provided great insights into the future of businesses and the role that IoT, blockchain and related technologies will play in their functioning.
