IoB stands for Internet of Behaviors, and it is an extension of the Internet of Things (IoT).
IoB uses collected data from the customers or data collected by the IoT devices to influence behaviors.
IoT works with data, information, and connectivity of different devices with each other. IoB works with these same parameters, adding user behaviors, to understand patterns and impressions that determine the user experience. The process gives insights into the user’s preferences, interests and behaviors. IoB can show wider consumer behavior patterns and the data can have various applications.
Famous Applications:
• Social media platforms: Use behavioral data to showcase advertisements to users on their platforms.
• Siri, Google Home, and Alexa: Study and interpret the data and behavior of the user to work more efficiently.
IoB is a combination of three areas as follows:
• Data Analytics
• Technology
• Behavioral psychology
Benefits:
• Can have a detailed understanding of where a customer is shopping.
• Analyze customer buying habits across all platforms.
• Replace multiple customer surveys, which are time-consuming for both customers and businesses.
• Provide real-time notifications to customers about any latest offer, point of sale, or even target ads.
IoT vs IoB:
IoT is concerned with connecting devices whereas IoB is focused on connecting people and their behavior thus it is mainly concerned with how best to utilize the data produced from this behavior.
IoB attempts to understand the data collected by the users, online activity from a behavioral and psychological perspective. Most remarkable feature of IoB is its power to influence users through the use of technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
